| POSSUM KINGDOM LAKE TOUR By Jerry Wall My son Cloyce and I arrived at the #1 pickup stop about 8:30 am on Sunday, June 28, hoping for several additional Healeys. We
already knew the Lenschows would be at pickup #2 and we would be adding Bobby
Ward in Mineral Wells. The
Solomons would be joining us at the Cliffs. We left the Burger King as one lonesome
BN6 headed for west Fort Worth and the Las Vegas Tr. Exit. Clarke Hubbard's green 100-6 was immediately spotted in front of the Waffle House along with the Lenschow Skye. While inside waiting for the departure time, Jimmy Johnson rolls up in the famous #22. 10:30 am arrives and our intrepid group moves out for Mineral Wells. Bobby and brother, Gary join us in the equally famous #104. Our group now consists of two former vintage racing cousins, Jimmy and Bobby. The cousins came to vintage racing from SCCA racing events of the '50s and '60s in the SAME Healeys they originally campaigned. Not to be outdone, Don Lenschow was a standard bearer for British bikes, racing BSA's over the dirt tracks of Illinois and even at Daytona. See what you miss when you don't show for the road trips. We arrived at the Cliffs Resort on Possum Kingdom Lake about noon and immediately headed inside for the COOL. The Chaparral Grill had a special dining area set aside for us where we wouldn't contaminate the rest of the guests. Just kidding, they were lucky to have a distinguished group such as ours. The food was great, and, to the best of my knowledge, everyone had a good time.
The weather was Texas summer, the cars ran well and there were no bonus tech sessions. Hope to see YOU on the next Healey Trail. Participating:
